Why Manchester

A cultural hub for Punjabis from both sides of Punjab.

Manchester holds exceptional importance as a cultural hub for non-resident Punjabis, owing to its long-established and vibrant Punjabi diaspora from both India and Pakistan. The city is home to a large, active Punjabi community that has preserved its language, literature, and cultural traditions across generations, making Manchester a natural meeting point for Punjabi intellectual and cultural exchange. We have chosen Manchester specifically because of the significant concentration of Punjabis from both sides of Punjab, which not only reflects unity and shared heritage but also ensures strong community engagement. This rich demographic presence guarantees the success of the Punjabi Conference in Manchester, with high attendance, meaningful participation, and substantial footfall, reinforcing the city’s role as a key centre for Punjabi culture in the UK.

What Can You Expect

Intellectual engagement + cultural celebration.

Participants of the three-day 2nd International Punjabi Sanjh Conference in Manchester can expect a rich and immersive experience that thoughtfully blends intellectual engagement with cultural celebration. The conference will host in-depth discussion sessions on Punjabi history, culture, art, and pressing contemporary social issues, featuring scholars, writers, artists, and community leaders from around the world. Complementing these sessions will be vibrant cultural and folk music performances that capture the spirit, rhythm, and traditions of Punjab. Visitors will also have opportunities for dialogue, networking, and cross-generational exchange, making the conference not only a space for learning but also a meaningful platform to reconnect with Punjabi heritage and strengthen cultural understanding within the global Punjabi community.
